  1. BY: PAOLA PEREZ PART 1

Do you think that John and Lorraine are falling in love? Explain.
Yes ,because they care a lot about each other; besides they shared a kiss which both of them seem to like and they also seem to be falling in love by the way they refer about the each other.

1.Why is Norton so curious about Mr. Pignati? How does John react to Norton’s questions? Why?
Norton is curious because he is thinking in making a joke using Mr. Pignati as the victim. John reacted aggressive because he didn’t want Norton to mess up with his new old friend.

2.How does Mrs. Conlan feel about John’s drinking and smoking? Do you think John is right to blame his parents for his bad habits? Is John at all to blame? Explain.
Mr. Conlan feels good because he used to do the same, for him this actions show maturity. I think John does have the right to blame his parents for his bad habits because he has seen the example and this is why he follow it. John is not to blame because after all the fault is of his parents, because they thought him those habits.

    3. What do John and Lorraine confess to Mr. Pignati? What does he confess to them? What does their willingness to confess to each other suggest about their relationship?
They confess them that they weren’t people from a charity and they tell him that everything had began when they decided to make jokes by the phone. He confessed them that his wife was dead. This confessions suggested that they liked each other so much that they needed to be honest with each other because trust existed among them.

  2. 4. What happens to Mr. Pignati while he is roller-skating? How does Lorraine react to the incident? How does John react? Are their reactions what you expected? Explain.
He had a heart attack. Lorraine was freaking out, he blamed John for the incident. John was also freaking out, but he was more calmed than Lorraine. I do expected their reactions because they are the reflect of their personalities.

    5. When and why do John and Lorraine pretend to be Mr. Pignati’s children? Do you think that they would actually like to be his children? Why or why not?
That happened at the hospital after the pigman had the heart attack and they pretended to be their family. I think they actually may have liked to be his children because he played a better paternal role for them than his own parents; he let them be free and enjoy life.

    6. In your opinion, what do the news clippings, pictures, and handwritten notes add to the novel? Would you miss them if they were not there? Explain.
They make the novel more interesting, because they are visual aids and they make the reading experience more entertaining. If they were not there, I would miss them because they make the reading much easier.

What do you think will happen to John and Lorraine? to Mr. Pignati? In a paragraph or two, predict how the novel will end. Be sure to base your predictions on clues in the novel.
I think Mr. Pignati will die from his heart attack. John, Lorraine will became even closer and they will get to be a family, because they love and care too much for each other. They would spend a lot of time together and they would get to really know each other. Because of each other they will forget their family issues and they will enjoy life as the pigman has thought them.

Yes, they both care about each other, they understand and they help between them. Also in a part of the story they kissed.
    Analyzing Literature
    1. Why is Norton so curious about Mr. Pignati? How does John react to Norton’s questions? Why?
Because he wants to do a prank to the Pigman, John reacted furious because since Mr. Pignati is his new friend, he doesn’t want Norton and anybody to hurt him.
    2. How does Mrs. Conlan feel about John’s drinking and smoking? Do you think John is right to blame his parents for his bad habits? Is John at all to blame? Explain.
Mrs. Conlan thinks drinking and smoking shows that you are grown up, but she doesn’t really care about it.
Yes, he is in the right to blame them because that was the example they gave him since little, so now he is doing what he saw.

    3. What do John and Lorraine confess to Mr. Pignati? What does he confess to them? What does their willingness to confess to each other suggest about their relationship?
They confessed him that they were not people from charity, that all begun because they were doing pranks with the phone, and they call him. He confessed that his wife was dead, but he still misses her too much. This suggested that honesty is the base of friendship, and they really wanted to be friends so they will tell the true now.
    4. What happens to Mr. Pignati while he is roller-skating? How does Lorraine react to the incident? How does John react? Are their reactions what you expected? Explain.
Mr. Pignati had a heart attack. Lorraine was very worried, desperate and alarmed. John was worried too but calm. Yes, because both love the Pigman so they were worried, but Lorraine, since she is a girl, is more sensible, so she was more desperate, and John, reacted how he has show he is.
    5. When and why do John and Lorraine pretend to be Mr. Pignati’s children? Do you think that they would actually like to be his children? Why or why not?
When Mr. Pignati had a heart attack, they had to go to the hospital; there Lorraine pretended to be his daughter. Maybe yes, because Mr. Pignati understands them and listen them, something that they parents doesn’t do, so maybe yes.

What do you think will happen to John and Lorraine? To Mr. Pignati? In a paragraph or two, predict how the novel will end. Be sure to base your predictions on clues in the novel.
I think Lorraine and John would be boyfriends, they would enjoy life together for a time and by the things they learned about the Pigman they would have a better relation with their parents. Mr. Pignati would die because of the accident he just have, because he old, maybe he would not support that.

  6. Personal Response:
Yes, I think they are falling in love because they shared a lot of things together.
    Analyzing Litterature:
    1) Norton is interested in Mr. Pignati because he wants to steal his belongings. John is very angry about that, and he wants to keep Norton out of this. He is angry at him because he really likes Mr. Pignati and doesn’t want him to get in trouble because of him.
    2) The only reason Mrs. Conlan cares that John smokes or drinks is that she is scared that he will get the house dirty with ashes or spilling beer. John does have the right to blame his parents because his dad used to sow his employees that John already drank beer when he was just a kid. You can blame John a little because he continues doing that while he could stop by listening to Lorraine.
    3) John and Lorraine confess to Mr. Pignati that they are not charity workers, but just high-school kids. On his side, Mr. Pignati confesses them that his wife is dead. This shows that they trust each other and don’t want to lie.
    4) Mr. Pignati has a heart attack in the stairs while skating. Lorraine doesn’t know what to do but John quickly reacts and calls an ambulance. No, these aren’t the reactions that I expected because I thought that Lorraine would react quickly because her mother is a nurse.
    5) John and Lorraine pretend to be Mr. Pignati’s children when the police interrogate them about Mr. Pignati’s heart attack. I think they would like to be Mr. Pignati’s children because they would have fun every day and would be treated with respect.
    Evaluate and concrete:
    6) I think the notes do the story easier to visualize. It also shows that John and Lorraine are young.
I would miss them if they were not there because they make the story funner to read.
    7) They apologize for lying to Mr. Pignati. The apologize must make them feel guilty and apprehensive about Mr. Pignati’s reaction.
    Literature and writing
I think that Mr. Pignati will die, because John said he died already in the book, and I think that both of them did something wrong because Lorraine said she felt like they’d murdered Mr. Pignati.

    6. In your opinion, what do the news clippings, pictures, and handwritten notes add to the novel? Would you miss them if they were not there? Explain. Because it makes the novel more entertainment and you really understand better the games with the diagrams and the pictures. I had missed them if they weren’t because I can’t imagine what the games of Mr. Pignati were about without those pictures and they are also kind of entertainment.
